Songkran or traditional Thai New Year is celebrated nationwide from 13 to 15 April every year. With infections still spreading, the government is encouraging the general public to celebrate the festival with the new normal practices.

There is an exodus of people who live or work in Bangkok use the Songkran extended public holidays to visit family elsewhere in Thailand. Buses, trains and flights are all busy for the annual Songkran break.
